Paula Patton made her film debut starring opposite Will Smith in the comedy film Hitch directed by Andy Tennant. Since her film debut, Patton has had a strong career in film starring alongside several prominent actors including Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner, Queen Latifah and many others, solidifying her as a formidable actor on the big screen. 

 

Patton wrapped shooting the second season of the legal thriller series, Sacrifice, a spin-off of the 2019 film, where Patton also stars. Patton is an executive producer on the show and plays Daniella Hernandez, a highly sought-after entertainment lawyer who navigates the nefarious lives of her rich and famous clients. The first season premiered on November 4, 2021. 

 

Patton was co-nominated for a SAG Award in the category of “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture” for her performance in Lee Daniels’ Oscar-winning Precious, starring opposite Gabourey Sidibe. She also received a NAACP Image Award Nomination in the category of “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture” for her role in the film. 

 

Additionally, Paula stars in the international limited series Devil’s Promise directed by Colin Teague. Paula plays the role of Professor Jennifer Campbell in this supernatural thriller where an unlikely pair team up to discover the secrets of the Hidden Chamber at the Black Pyramid of Dashurand while trying to save humanity in the process.

  

Patton’s other acting credits include the 2018 film Four Kids and It; her leading role as Laura Price in the 2017 Series Somewhere in Between; Jumping the Broom, where she starred alongside Angela Bassett; Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol, with Tom Cruise; About Last Night, directed by Steve Pink and starring Kevin Hart; 2 Guns, where she reunited with and acted opposite Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg; The Do-Over, directed by Steve Brill; Warcraft: The Beginning, directed by Duncan Jones; Disconnect, which premiered at the Venice film festival, starring Alexander Skarsgard;  Baggage Claim directed by David E. Talbert; Just Wright, directed by Sanaa Hamri and where she starred opposite Common and Queen Latifah; Idlewild, directed by Bryan Barber and starring opposite Andre Benjamin and Terrance Howard; Tony Scott’s film Deja Vu, where she first acted opposite Denzel Washington; and Swing Vote opposite Kevin Costner. As a producer, Patton produced and starred in the 2018 film Traffik which was directed by Deon Taylor and starred Omar Epps.
