Jeff Wachtel is the founder and CEO of Future Shack Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based, internationally focused production company that develops, produces and co-finances television shows for global audiences. Future Shack is currently in production on Murder in a Small Town for FOX and Good Cop, Bad Cop for CW, Roku and Australia’s Stan Network.
A seasoned television producer and executive, Wachtel was President of USA Network during its programming heyday, supervising and launching series including Suits, Mr. Robot, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, In Plain Sight, Monk, Royal Pains, Psych, White Collar, The Dead Zone, The 4400 and The Sinner.
He founded NBCU’s cable studio, Universal Content Productions (UCP) and served as Chief Content Officer for NBCU Cable Entertainment, overseeing all content for its suite of networks (USA, Syfy, Bravo, Oxygen and E!). At UCP he was responsible for Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Imposters, The Magicians and 12 Monkeys and Difficult People. Most recently, he spent three years in London as President of NBCU’s international television studio.
Prior to USA, Wachtel was President of Alliance Atlantis Television, supervising all programming for the Canadian program supplier. He also served as Executive Producer of the first-run syndicated series Pensacola: Wings of Gold. Wachtel spent six years at Columbia Pictures Television, where he rose to Executive Vice President of Primetime Television, developing and launching a number of series including Party of Five and Dawson’s Creek. He began his career in theatre as a director and producer, first producing New York productions of David Mamet’s work, Sexual Perversity in Chicago and The Duck Variations.
